Michele Trahan and John Ponzetti are the creators and owners of Villa Kaja.
About Michele Trahan:
Michele has always been involved in the construction field one way or another. In fact, her father was a union leader in the iron working business.
Michele is a very avid surfer. When Michele was just 7 years old she rented her first surf board and was instantly hooked on the sport. Being from New England (USA) which isn't the best surfing environment, she learned to travel solo to satisfy her need to surf. Hawaii was where she got most of her surfing experience, and she actually lived on the north shore for many years.
After living the surfing lifestyle for quite some time, Michele started to feel the need for something more. The surfing lifestyle didn't seem to fulfill her dreams and outlook on life. Eventually she decided to get involved with restoring old buildings and naturally, the real estate business. Real estate is something which Michele and Johny both share in common.
Michele also loves music and says that it has always been a big part of her life.
Michele has worked on many projects in her life. She has been involved in projects in California, Porto Rico and now Villa Kaja in Indonesia.
Once you get the chance to experience Villa Kaja, you will notice the feeling of being part of the entire place…almost as if you have become "one" with your environment. Michele says she was able to create this atmosphere because of all the experiences she has had from being on many large construction projects.
In the past, Michele never had a personal attachment to any of the many projects she has worked on. However, her last several projects have all been personal to her, and built just like Villa Kaja.
Michele says that Villa Kaja is now her best creation ever and it also reflects the surfing lifestyle she loves so much. Michele also enjoys staying at Villa Kaja herself. The fact of being close to so many surf breaks means she can enjoy surfing and swimming with friends and even guests.
Michele absolutely loves the beaches of Bali and thinks they are fantastic.
She also feels very lucky to have found Johny who also wanted something different to do with the experience he has learned over the years in the construction field and she also praises Johny's unique gardening techniques.
About John Ponzetti:
John served in the military for 3 years and was stationed in Europe. After leaving the military John attended Norwalk Community College and soon joined his family's construction business. It was there were John worked on many different projects including commercial, industrial and residential.
John is now semi retired and mainly does consulting work but his main reason for wanting to participate in the Villa Kaja build in Bali is because his "better half" (Michele) enjoys the wonderful surfing atmosphere.
John enjoys gardening and there is no better place for this then Bali were you can almost "see the plants" grow. When John is not gardening he enjoys relaxing by the pool at Villa Kaja with his guests.
John also enjoys going out to the beautiful surf breaks to watch Michele surf.
